5 Easy Steps towards Increasing Your Self-Worth & Self-Love

You’ve probably heard a lot of people tell you that you need to love yourself. You hear it everywhere, see it everywhere, but what does that really mean?

Self-love means to have a high regard for yourself, your happiness and your well-being.

Loving yourself and improving your self-worth is important for not only your emotional well-being but also your practical life. It influences your work, your attitude towards life and your personality.

All these are easier said than done. Happiness Coach gives you 5 easy steps, so you can learn how to be your own biggest fan!

1. Be true to yourself

Our insecurities get the best of us, and sometimes they take away our confidence. Don’t get in the race of impressing others. Live your life according to your rules; the way you want to. Stay true to yourself and do not change or compromise for anyone or anything. Focus on yourself and your goals and don’t worry about pleasing anyone else. Those who truly love you will accept you for who you are. The only person who should be satisfied is you.

2. Protect yourself

Identify the things that make you uncomfortable, and make sure that you stay away from them. Be assertive and know when to say no to people. Don’t expect anyone else to look after yourself, do that on your own. Set boundaries, for yourself and for others. Stay away from people and things that drain your energy, and surround yourself with happy, positive energies.

3. Trust yourself

Some of us blame ourselves for our failures and have zero to no hope in ourselves to face challenges. Make sure that you trust yourself; trust your abilities, trust your instincts. Don’t be too harsh on yourself. Have confidence and faith in yourself because in the end, you can handle anything that life throws at you only and only if you think you can.

4. Practice Healthy Habits

Your mind and body need to be taken care of. Try to eat healthily, and exercise or do some yoga. Fix your sleeping schedule. Try to be as positive as you can. Do what makes your heart, body and mind happy. But that does not mean to spend days in your bed binge-watching your favourite TV shows and devouring snacks. Sure, that is fun and that is what we all want to do, but finding the right balance is key. Your health will have a huge impact on your productivity and your emotional well-being.

5. Be Kind to Yourself

Always know that that you are one of a kind. There is no one else like you, and you need to realize that before you expect anyone else to. Everyone has flaws, you need to learn to accept those flaws and find beauty in them. It is perfectly normal to be imperfect. Don’t be too harsh on yourself, instead be kind to yourself. Love your flaws, and insecurities and understand that they are part of you and they make you unique. Accept them, love them and embrace them.

We know that all these things are easier said than done. There is no set standard for learning to love yourself, just have complete faith and know that you are unique and you deserve to be loved. Value, respect and love yourself before you expect anyone else to. Try to become your biggest critic and your biggest fan.

Self-love means to have high regard for yourself, your happiness and your well-being.
